Do you know who you are?

Hi! My name is Scott Heisel. You might know me from my tenure at Alternative Press where, as a part of their in-house editorial staff from 2004-2014, I wrote in-depth cover stories and features about bands such as Weezer, Paramore, Blink-182 and dozens more. Maybe you remember my short-lived run as editor-in-chief of Substream Magazine from 2015-2016, where I shined a light toward such forward-thinking artists as CHVRCHES, Frank Turner, Basement and others. If you’re a real one, you know my name from thousands of posts on Punknews.org, where I was a part of the editorial staff from 2001-2004.

I am also the owner of Youth Conspiracy Records, a small independent label responsible for releasing music by the likes of Weatherbox, the Felix Culpa, Sainthood Reps, Meridian, the Forecast and more.

Lately, I’ve been freelancing for numerous publications (UPROXX, the AV Club, Consequence Of Sound, Paste and Riot Fest, to name a few), but those always come with word counts and editorial parameters, and to be frank, I’m kind of over that. So I started Colors Of Insomnia to get these words out of my brain.
